Lucid dreaming came to Russia along with Castaneda’s “crooked” translations. For a long time, reprints circulated from hand to hand, and reading about don Juan was as much the responsibility of the “intellectual elite” as dissent or using something illicit.
By the 90s, the post-Soviet space had broken through. Private publishing houses appeared, hired translators for pennies, and then released spiritual genies of the Western and Eastern sense on the heads of young people who had thrown away their ties and Komsomol badges.
Some people swallowed everything, others simply had fun with interesting things, others replenished the army of proliferating sects. There were also those who seriously tried to practice the applied side of the teaching, called nagualism in the West. It was among these guys that later branded slang appeared - sprites, trixes, etc.
In his youth, the author communicated with seekers of all stripes and calibers. Starting from anomalies and ending with dreamers. Many of them swayed from side to side, and from time to time they fled to the monasteries under construction. The place where all sorts of interesting personalities from all over the CIS flocked for ten years in a row was Divnogorye. Now, alas, there is nothing left of the old parties.
All the techniques of dream hackers come from the St. Petersburg “Castaneda” flats. Later, the occult northern capital was closely intertwined with Prague, but that’s another story. However, I’ll start with the official “paradigm”, in which thousands of seekers who flock to forums with threads about XC believe.
Official version
The official version is this. In the memorable year of 1993 (in my opinion, it was not chosen by chance) to the security company “S. TO." came up with a strange proposal. It was necessary to interview people about their dreams, write down these stories, find common and repeating plots, and present all this in the form of a statistical report. Representatives of the customer were Sergei Izrigi and Dmitry Volokh. The project was financed more than generously.
Izrigi is not a surname. This pseudonym is short for “Sergey from Riga”.
Every whim for your money! Dream clubs have been opened in Moscow, St. Petersburg and other cities. They worked from February to April 1994. According to S.I., about 10,000 people visited them. Psychologists challenged visitors to be frank, tape recorders (this is 1994) reeled off kilometers of film.
Funding suddenly stopped. In May 1994, D. Volokh was found dead. He managed to warn S. Izrigi about surveillance by law enforcement agencies (or those who were hiding behind them). In September 1995, the bride of S.I. kidnapped and killed. The group of dream hackers he formed in Vilnius was dragged through investigations. Izrigi himself was wounded by an unknown person and left for Belarus under the patronage of Vasily Chui.
Izrigi calls him legendary, but I haven’t found a single legend on the RuNet. It seems that he was imprisoned from 1996 to 1999 for organizing a totalitarian sect.
What happens next is completely shrouded in darkness. According to the official version, Sergei Izrigi fell at the hands of the special services. According to the unofficial version, in a criminal showdown during the division of collected funds.
One thing is known. Talented and with a lot of free time, young regulars of the Runet spent more than 3 years promoting the “Dream Hackers” brand. They started with websites on Yandex.People, then organized forums and created accounts in the largest esoteric parties. The idea was picked up by enterprising citizens. Books about dream hackers began to be published under this brand, accessories were sold, and seminars and trainings were organized.
My opinion. All these detective stories are 100% fiction. Someone tried to organize a sect. I snatched up the OS developments of the St. Petersburg guys who were passionate about Castaneda, and created a fog. Nothing good came of it, but the meme turned out to be very tasty and the guys from popular publishing houses took on it. Read below for evidence of the logic of what is happening.

As soon as a trend appears, the dodgers join the tail. Now there are about 8 authors who are “experts” in the inner workings of dream hackers.
The structure of myth
Joseph Campbell identified common structural elements in ancient, medieval and modern mythologies. His work greatly influenced Hollywood screenwriters and the talented scoundrels who created New Age cults.
The myth of dream hackers is constructed in a classical way. Servants of a mysterious force (customer) are trying to collect forbidden information. They are being persecuted for this by the mysterious they (the secret organization “Legion”), hiding behind the security services. The main characters die, but manage to collect sacred knowledge and pass it on to their students.

Whoever came up with this was heavily influenced by Stephen King and perhaps early Lazarchuk. Let me keep it to myself why I draw this conclusion.

Sergei Izrigi said that shortly before his death, Dmitry warned him about the threat. As it turned out, among the members of the analytical group there were employees of state security agencies working undercover. Apparently, they were interested in the mysterious customer and the information that the members of the XC group had collected.
In 1995, we managed to trace the missing Sergei. He was identified from a photo on a brochure advertising a new congregation in Vilnius. Participants were going to explore dream mapping.
Soon, some of the hackers were arrested, and Izriga’s fiancee was kidnapped and killed shortly before. When Sergei was detained, he was shot in the shoulder.
Russian dream stalkers have been kidnapped and even killed
In the late 90s, law enforcement agencies detained the hackers the Muravyov brothers. Among the seized materials were the developments of Sergei Izriga’s group. The operatives managed to get on Sergei’s trail, but he soon disappeared again.

In November 1993, the information and analytical group of the security company "S.K." (abbreviation) received a strange order to search and process all currently available data on dreams and dreams. The topic of fortune telling and interpretation of dream images was excluded. The generous advance quite quickly quelled comments about the unusualness of the order.In December 1993, an additional request was received from the customer to conduct a broad survey of the population in order to collect any available information on dreams. Sergey Izrigi and Dmitry Volokh were introduced into the analytical group as representatives of the customer.
In January-February 1994, “dream clubs” were created in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Saratov, Novosibirsk, Chita, Minsk, Riga and Vilnius and an advertising campaign was carried out to announce them. The clubs operated until April 1994. In total, about 10 thousand people visited them. Specially hired psychologists not only created a benevolent atmosphere at the meetings, but also recorded on tape the dreams that people talked about. In May 1994, Dmitry Volokh was found dead in one of the Moscow suburbs. A little later it turned out that in the analytical group of the security company "S.K." security officers were working. They were very interested in the rich customer of such a strange project. Dmitry Volokh was offered to become an informant. He didn't agree. Moreover, he managed to warn Sergei Izriga about surveillance. One can only guess about the reasons for Dmitry's death. The investigation was closed unusually quickly.
In February 1995, a seminar was held in Vilnius on lucid dreaming. Later, in July 1995, a small brochure was published, which for the first time provided the rationale for dream cartography. Intelligence data allowed the security authorities to contact the organizers of the event. Two of them identified Sergei Izrigi in the photographs presented. The trail was taken.
In September 1995, four days before the wedding, Izrigi's bride was kidnapped and brutally murdered. The kidnappers were not found, but, obviously, the girl said something, since a day later almost half of the first SI group, which at that time was called... differently, was arrested. Sergei received a bullet wound. Three students of the legendary Vasily Chui took him to Belarus, where he later met Alla, a dreamer of the highest level. (Now few people know that Vasily Chui cleared contaminated areas of radiation. He found a boulder, sat in a lotus and sang his ancient songs. Sometimes the boulder under him rose into the air. In the villages they took him for a saint. He treated irradiated children and removed earth radiation. From 1996 to 1999 he was in prison due to slander. Now he is continuing his mission again.)
In October 1998, the Muravyov brothers were detained in Novosibirsk. They both belonged to the "dream hackers". The guys were broken. They told a lot about the group’s work and, in particular, about the practice of joint dreaming. Representatives of the intelligence services were so interested in this aspect that they offered cooperation to the SI. Despite the preliminary goodwill and permission for the released Muravyov brothers to leave the country, the opera overdid it. Just in case, they arrested Tambov. Fortunately, already on the plane, on the way to Moscow, he managed to “disappear” from the cabin. Now he lives in Canada. Around the same time, Doc and Spam joined the group of “hackers”. Doc and Tambov found each other in a lucid dream. Spam found out about SI through a Minsk group of “hackers” and drew him into his dream. By an incredible coincidence, Doc and Spam turned out to be old acquaintances (although they did not know about each other's dream hobbies).
In August 2000, security at two secret laboratories where research on borderline states of consciousness was carried out recorded strange phone calls coming from the same subscriber. During interrogation, the detained young man admitted that he saw phone numbers in a dream. Further investigation proved his involvement in the “dream hackers.” The entire regional group was arrested.
In October 2000, the SI met with a representative of the FSB and demanded freedom for the eighteen detained “hackers.” Otherwise, he promised to publish the group's materials on the Internet.
In February 2001, the group's materials began to be published online. In April 2001, the arrested guys were released. "Hackers" were asked not to go into detail on some topics. To this day, this gentleman's agreement remains in force, although it was violated twice by the security authorities (the demand for the closure of the site and the arrest of Brother Spam).
During 2001, many new people joined the group of "hackers". Dozens of regional groups have been organized. Through the efforts of SI's friends, forums and a "hacker" site were created. Despite the provocations of the special services and their three regular websites discrediting “dream hackers,” knowledge about new methods of studying human consciousness is spreading throughout Russia.
In 2002, SI promised to reveal a new layer of information related to the singularity of events, the world assembly program and “hacker” stalking.
Dream Hackers
When describing the modern subculture of hackers, psychologists often call us “obsessed programmers” - people who perceive the real world as some kind of “operating system of a universal supercomputer.” This flattering review needs a little correction. In fact, we are convinced of the opposite: each program is a “world”, living and acting according to its own laws and principles. Wandering through these “worlds,” the hacker gains the ability to enter fairly complex information structures and secure systems. He explores them, enjoys the beauty and sometimes uses some of the developments for his own personal purposes.
However, psychologists' failure to identify hackers was seen as a challenge by some people, and their findings may serve as an answer to the need of the moment. I will try to describe to you the experience of a hacker group that decided to “break into” one of the most complex “programs” of the human brain - the world of our dreams.
The project, which began about eight years ago, led the developers to interesting results, some of which I will describe to you in further letters. This information is being disclosed for only one reason: due to an absurd oversight by our Novosibirsk colleague, materials on “hacking” dreams came into the possession of the Russian FSB and are now being checked by experts from two security institutions. We do not know how the special services will use the tricks we have invented. We do not know in which direction their further research will go. Therefore, in the hope of leveling the playing field and giving those who wish the opportunity to escape from the tutelage of “Big Brother,” our group is “leaking” the bulk of its findings for public use.
