IVAN SAVVICH NIKITIN

Ivan Nikitin was born on September 21, 1824 in Voronezh. In 1839, in the biography of Nikitin, he entered the theological seminary of Voronezh. But due to the difficult situation at home, Ivan left his studies, and in 1843 he was forced to leave the seminary. While still studying, he became interested in literature, began to write poetry.

For a long time he could not even think about printing his poems, but he continued to work hard on them without any support. Only in 1853 was the first poem of Nikitin "Rus" published in the Voronezh newspaper, attracted the attention of critics to the poet. Soon, the capital's magazines began to print it. Separate collections of Nikitin's poems were published in 1856 and 1859. Then in 1859 he opened his own bookstore and a library in Voronezh. Hard, strenuous work, poor living conditions undermined the poet's health: falling ill with consumption, he died in the prime of his extraordinary talent.

• Ivan was born in Voronezh. The house of his childhood stood on the high bank of the Voronezh River. The poet loved to watch the flow of the river, look at the colors of sunsets, listen to the singing of birds and the rustle of herbs.

• The earliest surviving poems date back to 1849, many of which are imitative. He made his debut in print with the poem "Rus", written in 1851, but published in the "Voronezh Provincial Gazette" only on November 21, 1853, that is, after the start of the Crimean War.

• Nikitin really wanted to become an educated person, dreamed of a university, but hard times came for his family. The father went bankrupt, the young man had to work to support his relatives. In his free time, he studied, read a lot, tried to write poetry, hiding them from strangers.

• Nikitin's largest work, the poem "The Fist", was begun in October 1854. The first edition was completed by September 1856. The second edition, to which the poet made significant corrections, was completed by the beginning of 1857. The first publication was a separate edition in 1858. ...
• The word "kulak" in Nikitin's time meant not a prosperous peasant, as it was established later, but a completely different social type. According to Dal, a kulak is "a reseller, a reseller ... in bazaars and marinas, he himself is penniless, he lives by deceit, cheating, measuring." In the center of Nikitin's poem is the image of just such a fist, the Voronezh bourgeoisie Karp Lukich.

• In Voronezh in 1911, on Nikitinskaya Square, a monument to the poet was erected by the sculptor I. A. Shuklin.
• In Voronezh, in the house where the poet lived since 1846, since 1924 the literary-memorial Nikitin House-Museum (Voronezh Regional Literary Museum named after I.S. Nikitin) has been operating. A street in the city of Voronezh is named after Ivan Savvich. There is Nikitin Street in Lipetsk. There is Nikitin Street in Novosibirsk. Nikitin's early poems date back to 1849 - 54. The first poem “Rus” that appeared in print (November 21 in Voronezh Provincial Gazette) was reprinted by many newspapers and brought fame to Nikitin. In 1856, a collection of his poems appeared.

In 1859 Nikitin opened a bookstore with the aim of promoting the education of young people. A hard life, need, endless troubles and griefs caused by a father who fell into a binge with grief, intense poetry in his spare minutes - all this undermined Nikitin's strength. He is dying of consumption.

Monument to I.S.Nikitin

This is the national poet and patriot Ivan Savvich Nikitin, who lived in Voronezh in the 19th century. Nikitin was very fond of Russia, his hometown of Voronezh. Most of the poet's poems are dedicated to Russia, Voronezh, the nature of his native land, the Russian people and his mysterious soul. Ivan Nikitin took an active part in the life of his hometown. He created the center of Voronezh's cultural life - a bookstore, where a public library was soon opened. Students, artists, writers, poets and artists loved to gather there.

The monument is located on a small square named after the poet "Nikitinskaya". On the right side of the monument is the Proletary cinema - one of the oldest cinemas in Voronezh. On a high pedestal is the figure of the Voronezh poet. Nikitin is captured sitting on a stone. His appearance, pensive, sad makes the viewer join the poet's thoughts. His hands are lifeless on his knees, his head is lowered to his chest. A truly brilliant creation of the sculptor gives rise to only questions in the minds of visitors to Nikitinskaya Square: "What is this man thinking?"

House-Museum of I.S. Nikitin

The house-museum is currently restored in the form in which it was during the life of the poet. The estate is located on the site of an inn owned by Ivan Savvich Nikitin (1824-1861). The house was built in 1846. The poet lived there for 15 years. After Nikitin's death, the house passed from one owner to another. In 1922 the house and the estate were nationalized, and in 1924 in the house that belonged to the Nikitin family, the “Museum of Regional Literature named after IS Nikitin ". Later, in 1953, it was renamed into "House-Museum of I.S. Nikitin". During the Great Patriotic War, part of the exposition was evacuated to Yelabuga, the rest disappeared without a trace. Today, the museum displays personal belongings of the writer, as well as materials about the life and work of not only I.S. Nikitin, but also other writers of the Voronezh region - A.V. Koltsov, A.I. Ertel, E.M. Militsyna.
